Differences Matter
Part of the job in campaigning for a public office requires that each candidate study, understand and articulate the positions of his opponent. This is a process which helps voters choose the candidate who will best represent their views and philosophies when in office.
At the time of this writing (6 June 2008), there are two candidates for the ND Senate office in District 6, which covers Bottineau, Renville and parts of Ward Counties. Those candidates are James Bartlett and David O'Connell.
The contrasts between these two candidates are large, but both are friendly, kind, capable and church-going individuals. So, what are the differences, and what do those differences mean to the future of individual lives in North Dakota?
For background, the word "Communism" is not used much today, but the ideas derived from communism have multiplied within the Democratic Party (and to a lesser extent within the Republican Party). Dr. Bartlett opposes these ideas wherever they are found.
These ideas have both economic and political aspects. Economic communism is where people believe, as did Marx and Lenin, that the economic system of a society should determine the nature of all legal, social and political institutions. It aims to gradually (imperceptibly) abolish private property and class distinctions to give government increasing responsibilities toward a utopia where all are equal economically. The political aspect of communist thought is clearly seen where world government, the global economy, and private/public partnerships are promoted and capitalism is undermined. Capitalism is the traditional American Christian view of economics which protects small business and local economies.
With this background in mind, let compare the gentlemen running for the ND Senate in District 6.

A worldview is a person's perspective on the world and is the basis for their decision making. Senator O'Connell's voting is consistent with the Democratic party worldviews of liberal humanism and liberal Marxism. Bartlett's views are purposely consistent with the Conservative Christian view of the world, which is what made American great. The following table introduces more of the very important differences between David O'Connell and James Bartlett. More details on worldviews are presented here.

Communist Party Backs Obama
Although fine print at the bottom of the page says that “Content on blogs in My.BarackObama represents the opinions of community members and in no way should be interpreted as endorsed or approved by the campaign,” the information provided by Maki is deadly confirmation that a hard-core CPUSA member played a key role in helping raise Obama. It is a story that most media, including some “conservative” news outlets, have shied away from.......

O'Connell Support Pro-Abortion Candidate for President
"Planned Parenthood apparently has no doubts about where Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill., endorsed by David O'Connell, ND) stands on abortion as their political arm announced their endorsement of Sen. Obama. Planned Parenthood's president Cecile Richards called him a "passionate advocate" with a "long and consistent record of standing up for" legal abortion. In a speech Sen. Obama made to a Planned Parenthood audience last July he vowed that "the first thing I'd do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act." The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) would effectively overturn hundreds of state laws that have put reasonable restrictions on abortion, including parental notification." Democratic + Catholic + Senate = pro-abortion
The head of the Catholic League says although there are more "wild-eyed" supporters of abortion in the Democratic Party than Delaware Senator Joe Biden, Barack Obama's vice-presidential running mate is a strong ally of the abortion lobby. He also has a suggestion for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, a professed Catholic: review the basics of Catholicism.

Political Correctness is Neo-Marxism
"…the counter-cultural revolution of the 1960s was the initial execution of a plan by a group known as "The Frankfurt School" to undermine American culture. They wanted to "create so much chaos and confusion and dysfunction -- a ferociously uncivil society -- that the people will beg the state to come in with the answers. 'Once we have achieved that,'" the group aspired, "'we have our Socialist utopia, which is a tyrannical state model that pushes Christianity out completely.'
"Most Americans do not realize that they, through their institutions, are being led by social revolutionaries who think in terms of the continuing destruction of the existing social order in order to create a new one. They now control the public institutions in the United States . Their 'quiet revolution,' beginning with the counter-culture revolution of their youth, is nearing completion." (Geoff Botkin)

'The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so.' - Ronald Reagan
"And what is the Democratic Party today? It is the party of left-wing socialism, dumbed-down public education, defeat in Iraq, amnesty for illegal immigrants, abortion on demand, socialized medicine, gay marriage, more taxes for everyone, bans on oil drilling, and “change you can believe in.” As the French say, “plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose,” the more it changes, the more it’s the same thing."
